Our Story

Montgomery’s Sewing Machine Co. has been in this area since 1936 repairing sewing machines, opened by Harold Montgomery. In 1985 his son Ken Krantz took over the company and changed the name to Montgomery’s Sewing Center.

Founder and Owner

Ken has been working on sewing machine since 1970.  He went to school up in Chicago in 1973 to learn how to repair Viking sewing machines. He worked in the Montgomery Sewing Machine store in down town Bloomington for five years.  In 1985 took over the sewing machine companies business, under Montgomery Sewing Center and was reduce for sales and service to service.

Chris Krantz


Currently learning how to work on sewing machines and sharpen scissors, with hopes of taking over the business.  He is technically inclined as well a mechanically. This is good because all the new sewing machines are computerized.
